UFC headliner Carlos Prates won’t be tying the knot any time soon.
Prates, one of the top contenders in the UFC welterweight division, is set to take on the division’s former champion Jack Della Maddalena in the main event of the promotion’s latest stop in Australia this weekend.
Ahead of time, he sat down — or laid down — for an interview with YouTuber That MMA Girl. The pair touched on a number of unusual topics, one being Prates’ outlook on marriage.
When asked about where he sees himself in 60 years, the Brazilian, who already has a daughter, admitted that he will probably still be living alone, just like he is now.

💍🙄 Carlos Prates says he has no plans to ever get married and prefers living alone:
“I have my daughter already. I want to enjoy life, I want to travel a lot.
Wake up at 11 a.m., do some barbecue and then go back to sleep. I like to be alone.”

“I think I will be alone,” Prates said before his UFC return. “Before, some years ago, I wanted to get married and have more kids, but I’m getting old.
“I want to just enjoy life. I have my daughter already. I want to travel the world, wake up at 11 am, do some barbecue to eat, then back to sleep… I like to be alone. I live alone. I have my house in Brazil and I live alone. Many times I wake up, then I do my lunch. I do barbecue alone, by myself, and then I drink alone, then play my video games alone, then I sleep a little bit. I like to do things alone.
“I’m happy when I do that.”
Prates, who is known for his love of alcohol and cigarettes — even during fight week — is riding a career-changing knockout win over former champ Leon Edwards. Prior to that, he suffered the lone loss of his career with a decision defeat against Ian Machado Garry. If he beats Della Maddalena this weekend, a title shot could be next.
