Elsight POSITIONING™ provides the only GNSS-denied positioning solution.
One of the keys to the novel POSITIONING solution is that Elsight built it on a patented multi-signal fusion technology, delivering highly precise geolocation. While it is also the first product of its kind with built-in active GPS spoofing detection, this compact and cost-effective technology provides reliable positioning with or without GPS.
As a provider of mission-critical connectivity for uncrewed systems, Elsight recently announced its new POSITIONING capability at the Association of the US Army’s annual meeting and exposition 12-14 October in Washington DC. Elsight’s new offering delivers unprecedented accurate geolocation for autonomous platforms across air, land and sea domains – alone or in combination – in GPS-denied, jammed, or spoofed environments.
The launch comes amid ongoing global GPS jamming and spoofing, as growing usage of uncrewed systems push Electronic Warfare to the centre of tactical planning. Jamming and spoofing tools once limited to specialist units are now fielded broadly by regular forces.
Elsight’s POSITIONING capability is built on a patented cellular-based solution that determines platform location using cellular network measurements, enabling precise geolocation when GPS is unavailable, degraded, or actively spoofed. POSITIONING is fully integrated into the company’s flagship mission enablement product, Halo.
A multi-source fusion engine continuously layers in additional available inputs – including cellular Timing Advance (TA), surrounding base station signals, GPS when verified reliable, and motion and velocity vectors – to improve accuracy and resilience. Active GPS spoofing detection cross-references GPS against cellular-derived position in real time, firing an alert when the two diverge.

“While GPS remains a critical vulnerability in contested environments,” alerts Elsight CEO Yoav Amitai “…our POSITIONING product entirely removes dependency, giving uncrewed systems the ability to know exactly where they are, regardless of what is happening to the environment around them. Every alternative tells you how far you’ve moved, but Elsight tells you where you are. It is a fundamentally different approach to positioning.”
POSITIONING’s benefits include:
- Low customer burden: requiring no additional hardware for existing customers Elsight’s Positioning application.
- GPS operation: functioning in darkness, at sea, and in conflict zones without internet, visual reference, or communications link.
- High precision geolocation: exceeding relative positioning the technology knows exactly where an uncrewed platform is, not just how far it moved.
- Patented cellular-based core: operating on a non-GNSS infrastructure, it is inherently resistant to GPS jamming, spoofing, and electronic interference that would compromise satellite-dependent systems, and operates on any available network.
- Multi-source fusion: allowing continuous combination of all available inputs, it automatically adapts as signal availability changes without a single source.
- Auto-switching: using a default GPS setting enables automatic switching to cellular signals when GPS is unavailable.
- Active GPS spoofing / detection – cross-referencing GPS against cellular-derived location data in real time; creates an automatic alert when the two diverge beyond a threshold

By adding resilience without requiring large, heavy, or prohibitively expensive navigation equipment, POSITIONING is a small, lightweight, affordable solution that is as practical as it is scalable. POSITIONING leverages standard GPS performance in normal operations and includes an additional layer of resilience when operating in GPS-denied environments.
Elsight (ASX: ELS) provides the critical enablement layer for uncrewed vehicles, across air, land and maritime domains.
