Aieza Bertolso needed just 3:02 to make her case for a UFC contract. The Brazilian strawweight submitted Camila Reynoso with an inverted D’Arce choke in the opening bout of Dana White’s Contender Series 94 on Tuesday, September 29, then got the answer she wanted when Dana White handed out contracts after the card.

There was a brief striking exchange before Bertolso took Reynoso down at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. From the top, she worked her arms around Reynoso’s head and kept adjusting as the Argentine tried to escape. Bertolso eventually wrapped her legs around Reynoso to tighten the hold, forcing the tap midway through Round 1.

Reynoso had answers for the first attempts, but couldn’t shake the final grip on DWCS. The finish moved Bertolso to 8-0 as a professional and dropped Reynoso to 9-2. It was Bertolso’s fifth submission win in eight pro fights, and it came against a fighter who had entered the night on a three-fight winning streak.
For anyone who had come to see whether Bertolso’s grappling would carry over to the Contender Series, the wait was short. Bertolso arrived with an LFA strawweight title already on her resume. She won that belt in September 2025 by submitting Edilania Silva with a second-round armbar. Her record also includes rear-naked choke, kneebar and armbar finishes, so Tuesday’s choke added a new entry to an established pattern rather than producing a surprise change of tactics.

White made the contract official at the end of the show. He praised Bertolso’s work both standing and on the ground and said she would be a strong addition to the UFC’s 115-pound division. Ian Escuza, Adama Diop and George Staines also received deals, meaning all four fighters who won on the shortened card left with UFC contracts. Bertolso was first to fight and first to finish; by the night’s end, her UFC tryout had become her UFC welcome.
