NITRO GEN OMEGA has rolled out its Patriot Update for all players, moving the patch out of open beta and into the main build on Steam.
The update adds the game’s third playable mech, a new faction quest line tied to the Resonant Accord, and a round of quality of life changes and fixes. For a game that launched in Early Access on June 17, 2025, this is one of its bigger content drops so far, especially because it expands both combat options and the broader structure around progression.
For those who don’t know, NITRO GEN OMEGA is a turn-based tactical RPG developed by DESTINYbit with a strong focus on mech customization, timeline-based combat, and squad management.

The game puts players in control of a mercenary crew traveling across a ruined continent, taking contracts, upgrading their machines, and dealing with hostile factions and dangerous enemies. Battles mix positioning, weapon loadouts, and turn order control, while progression revolves around building mechs with different parts and tuning them to fit specific combat roles.
That structure gives each frame its own identity and makes every new mech addition more meaningful than a simple extra class. The headline addition is the Patriot, a melee-focused mech that joins Monki and Ocelot as part of the current roster.
DESTINYbit describes it as a close-range model built around isolating targets and chaining attacks through a unique combo mechanic, which immediately gives it a different role from the game’s more balanced starter frame and the ranged-focused Ocelot. The update also brings more than 80 unique Patriot parts, new tuning items built specifically for that mech, and two achievements linked to its unlock path.

Unlocking the Patriot means going through a new quest line in Resonant Prime. It starts after completing “The Road to Resonant Prime” from the Traders’ Gyld and introduces the Resonant Accord, one of the factions operating across the continent.
Alongside that, the patch adds parts comparison in both the loadout screen and shops, plus smaller interface, performance, localization, and combat-related fixes, including changes to flamethrower damage, electrified status, tuning consumption, and Ocelot reload behavior.

The developers also used the update to remind players that the main quest is still being prepared for the 1.0 release, and that the full release will require a brand new save file, though a skip tutorial option is planned to ease that restart.
NITRO GEN OMEGA is still expected to leave Early Access in May 2026 on PC via Steam, with the full version set to add the proper main quest and more content beyond the current sandbox framework.
