The UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal has indicated that it will find Qualcomm did not abuse its market power, leading consumer advocacy group Which? to withdraw a case it hoped would see Brits compensated for increased smartphone prices. Which? claimed that Qualcomm abused its market position as a dominant producer of processors and radio chips for smartphones, and that even Samsung and Apple felt they had no alternative but to pay inflated prices for some parts and then passed on the costs to buyers. UK consumers, the group argued, therefore paid more for certain smartphones between October 2015 and January 2024.…

Most AP automation initiatives deliver clear benefits early on. Invoice capture improves, manual data entry is reduced and approval workflows become faster and more visible. Challenges usually begin later, when organizations try to expand automation across more suppliers, regions, currencies and types of spend. At that point, many teams notice the same pattern. Automation continues to operate, but the additional value expected from scale does not materialize. Exceptions grow faster than invoice volume. Manual…

This deficiency in regulations can stifle appropriate national security, industry autonomy—and thus technological advances—and coordinated integration of the two technologies. In this report, authors review current export control systems for AI and UASs, examine their effectiveness, and consider how the United States could form a balanced system of export…
