Munich, Germany / Kyiv, Ukraine, 5 July 2026 – Quantum Systems Group is aiming to set several speed records over the coming weeks, highlighting the Group’s continued pursuit of technical performance at the limits of what is possible.
Quantum Systems’ N3XT team in Germany has broken the world record for the world record for the fastest battery-electric flying object, with official confirmation pending. During internal testing on 26 June, the team’s Apex Recordhunter reached a top speed of 699 km/h in straight and level flight, an unofficial world-best performance. The official certification attempt is expected to take place within the coming weeks.
Developed over the past year, Apex Recordhunter serves as a technology demonstrator for next-generation high-speed systems. Several innovations from the project are expected to support future interceptor drone programs.
At the same time, WIY Drones, part of the Quantum Systems Group, is targeting two official Ukrainian speed records during planned testing expected next week.
The planned records include:
- STRILA Interceptor – Highest speed achieved by an FPV interceptor drone carrying a 0.5 kg payload.
- SPYS – Highest speed achieved by an anti-aircraft class FPV interceptor drone.
These initiatives reflect WIY’s continued development of high-performance interceptor systems designed to counter increasingly fast and maneuverable aerial threats, building on the company’s operational experience and its growing role within the Quantum Systems Group.
Florian Seibel, Co-CEO and Founder of Quantum Systems, said: “Super proud of the Quantum Systems team, showing our engineering ambition across our Group and reinforcing our commitment to developing world leading technologies.”
Robert Gardemin, N3XT Department, said: “For more than a year, this project meant early mornings, late nights, setbacks, breakthroughs, sacrifices and an unwavering belief that we could push the limits of what’s possible. 699 km/h is an incredible milestone, but it’s only the beginning. We will be back very soon to go even faster and make it official.”
Whether advancing the limits of electric flight or developing ever-faster interceptor technologies, the Quantum Systems Group continues to invest in engineering excellence across both civilian and defence applications. Further technical details and officially verified results will be released following the official record attempts.
