The Kalyani Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Pune, India, and its partnership with the South African firm Paramount Group has focused on developing and producing 4×4 and 6×6 Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs).
At Eurosatory 2026, the SIMHA 4×4 was launched, combining power, agility, and protection. The vehicle is best suited for a mix of urban warfare and on- and off-road reconnaissance. It is essentially a lighter armoured vehicle that shares DNA with the Mbombe 4 and Kalyani’s M4, a high-mobility Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, the localisation of which is made in India. Building on proven components, its modular architecture permits easy upgrades and modifications, enabling users to streamline and optimise their supply and MRO lines. Designed to support localisation and sovereign production objectives, the SIMHA 4×4 can be rapidly industrialised and localised in partner nations to support the ‘Made In India’ initiative, reducing long-term dependence on foreign supply chains. It joins a growing portfolio of jointly developed defence solutions emerging from the Paramount-KSSL partnership, emphasising the value of strategic industrial co-operation in delivering next-generation military capabilities.
Eric Ichikowitz, Senior Vice President of Paramount, stated, “Around the world, defence forces are seeking highly adaptable platforms capable of performing multiple missions, integrating emerging technologies, and being produced locally. The SIMHA has been designed from the beginning to meet these demands. It combines protection, mobility, modularity, and affordability in a platform that can evolve with changing operational needs. The SIMHA 4×4 is much more than just a new vehicle; it is a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when trusted defence companies combine their expertise, industrial capabilities, and long-term strategic vision.”
Paramount Group’s founder, Ivor Ichikowitz, told ARMADA International that the agreement to produce the SIMHA in India was finalised in just three months.
