This week’s product, the Copper Mountain Technologies’ (CMT’s) SN0904 4-Port 9 GHz Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), supports full 4-port 2-path measurements up to 16 S-Parameters (S11-S44) with CMT’s advanced measurement software. The instrument simplifies multi-port testing for radar, electronic warfare, military communications, avionics, and other defense RF systems.
The CMT SN0904 enables complete 4-port, 2-Path S-parameter characterization from 300 kHz to 9 GHz without the need to reconnect the device under test or perform multiple two-port measurements. Engineers can characterize couplers, power splitters and combiners, duplexers, RF switches, differential interconnects, and other multi-port devices without performing multiple two-port measurements.
Designed for Defense
In situations where there is a need for strong security like defense applications, USB VNAs are a better fit than traditional instruments. Taking traditional network analyzers in/out of secure environments is complicated, requiring removable hard drives, data purging procedures, and oversight over those data purging procedures.
The SN0904 operates with CMT’s VNA software on an external computer, separating the measurement hardware from the user interface and data-management environment. No measurement data—including potentially sensitive or classified test data—is retained on the VNA hardware after power-down, supporting its use in security-conscious defense laboratories and production environments.

S4 software can be installed license free on multiple computers, making it easy and secure for shared use of the vector network analyzer.
