UFC CEO Dana White responded to Jon Jones’ ‘homie for life’ message just months after he publicly asked for his release.
Just hours after UFC CEO Dana White and U.S. President Donald Trump announced the plans for UFC Freedom 250, former two-division titleholder Jon Jones wanted in. Despite announcing his retirement last year following a long contract dispute, Jones reversed course after the UFC Freedom 250 card was finalized.
But White went on to exclude Jones from the card, citing a lack of ‘reliability’ in Jones to stay on course outside of the Octagon. This prompted Jones to issue a fiery response on social media in which he publicly requested his release from the promotion.
Jones and White crossed paths at UFC 329, as Jones cornered heavyweight debutant Gable Steveson to a first-round win. Jones later shared a selfie of him, and White captioned ‘homie for life’, signaling the end of their recent feud.

In a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, White responded to Jones calling him a ‘homie for life’ after their recent feud.
“Yeah, and likewise. Me and Jon have our, you know, there’s the business side and then there’s the personal side, but even on the business side, I always respect Jon Jones,” White said of Jones.
“Jon Jones knows who he is, and Jon Jones knows what he does and there’s no delusion there. I say, and I’ll say again: He’s the greatest of all time. A lot of these fights that he went out and won, he wasn’t being very good to himself leading up to those fights.”
“When the Jon Jones stories start to come out after he retires and he’s gone and like whatever – I mean, the stuff that this guy was doing, and then coming out and beating the s— out of world-class guys who trained hard to try to beat him.” (h/t MMA Junkie)
