Sputnik News 20260124 The newly released US defense strategy frames Russia’s nuclear arsenal as the world’s largest and insists the US must have “guaranteed access” to Greenland—even as it claims the strategy “is not a strategy of isolation.” Key takeaways: Ukraine conflict resolution is described as primarily Europe’s responsibility. NATO allies are said to surpass Russia in “latent military power.” Iran may seek nuclear weapons by “refusing to engage in meaningful negotiations.” North Korea’s nuclear forces are a direct threat to Washington. US nuclear modernization will focus on deterrence and escalation management. © Sputnik NEWSLETTER …

Dana White has revealed early indications are that UFC’s debut on Paramount+ was a success. Once UFC’s broadcast deal with ESPN expired, the top MMA promotion secured a seven-year, $7.7 billion streaming deal with Paramount. The deal marked the end of the pay-per-view era for UFC. On Saturday, UFC 324 marked the promotion’s debut on Paramount+. Speaking to reporters during the UFC 324 post-fight presser, White didn’t have the streaming numbers available. Still, White was given some promising early indicators. “I just talked to Ari [Emanuel], Ari said we’ll have numbers on Monday or Tuesday,” White said. “This exceeded expectations…
In my previous article, The Age of Western Humiliation, I formulated my thesis for the next five to ten years in Western countries. If you haven’t already, read it first to understand what follows below. I admit that it paints a bleak picture that many find depressing. But despair is not a strategy. Neither is surrendering to fate. You have agency. You can just do things. This includes preparing the best you can for the potential chaos increasingly taking over our societies. How bad will it get? Nobody knows. Things might be mostly fine wherever you live. Other places might…
Top ranked lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan found himself on the outside looking in after he was forced to pull out of the UFC 311 main event title bout with Islam Makhachev the day before the event. In November, current lightweight champion Ilia Topuria announced that he was going to step away from competition while dealing with personal issue. The fight promotion opted to crown an interim champion in Topuria’s absence and Tsarukyan was left out. Former interim lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje and No. 5 ranked Paddy Pimblett fought for the interim belt in the UFC 324 main event on Saturday and Tsarukyan downplayed both Pimblett’s and Gaethje’s talents. “I…
I’ve sat in many saunas that look impressive but don’t actually get hot or hold their quality over long periods of time. That’s the problem with the at-home sauna boom. Everyone is selling “detox,” “weight loss,” “longevity,” and “biohacking,” but the best home sauna is the one that delivers meaningful heat stress, safely and consistently enough to use multiple times per week. Saunas are one of the most researched tools we have for long-term resilience, linked to cardiovascular health, metabolic function, stress adaptation, and lower all-cause mortality. But those benefits come from reaching the right temperatures, often enough. The Science…

Dive Brief: Apparel retailer Aritzia is weathering additional costs due to the elimination of the U.S. de minimis exemption and adjustments to fulfillment the company made to mitigate the impact, CFO Todd Ingledew said on a Q3 earnings call Jan. 8. Gross profit margin increased 30 basis points year over year, despite 410 basis points of pressure coming from trade-related challenges, Ingledew said. The CFO attributed one-third of the headwind to the elimination of de minimis, with the remainder tied to tariffs. “This pressure was more than offset by leverage on fixed costs, improved markdowns and freight tailwinds,” Ingledew said.…
