UFC CEO Dana White has revealed the four men he thinks belong on the Mount Rushmore of the boxing industry.
White is best known for his work in the MMA industry, having turned the UFC from a fringe spectacle to an entertainment giant. However, his first love was boxing—he even used to train and spar when he was younger.
More recently, White has finally gotten involved in the boxing industry, as the frontman of the new Zuffa Boxing organization. The upstart boxing promotion just launched this year.
As Zuffa Boxing ramps up, White appeared on the Rushmore Podcast to give his thoughts on the Mount Rushmore of the sport. The UFC chief explained that he made an important consideration for his four selections. He didn’t just focus on what each boxer achieve in the ring. He also focused on their contributions to the business of the sport. In other words, he seems to be looking at overall impact, not just impact in competition.

“Let me kind of explain myself,” he began. “I look at things from a different perspective than most people. I look at the business side of it too.
“Muhammad Ali is my No. 1,” he continued. “No. 2, Sugar Ray Robinson. My No. 3 is Floyd Mayweather, and my No. 4 is Mike Tyson.”
To recap, White’s Mount Rushmore of boxing includes:
- Muhammad Ali
- Sugar Ray Robinson
- Floyd Mayweather
- Mike Tyson
This isn’t a bad list from White. All four boxers the UFC boss mentioned are iconic in their own rights, with impressive resumes in the sport. However, this kind of list is always debatable. White believes there will be plenty of backlash about his picks.
“There will be,” told the Rushmore Podcast hosts.
