Vaporwave Studios’ turn-based tactics game mixes faction warfare, commander choices, and local or online multiplayer for up to four players.
A new turn-based strategy game coming to PC has just been announced. I’m talking about Tyrant Tactics: Birth of Revolution by Vaporwave Studios. The game is still listed as coming soon, and it’s a military tactics game about building an army, assigning commanders, and fighting across land, sea, air, and space.
The story is set in 2088 AD, at a point where the United Nations of Earth has almost completed its control over Earth and the lunar colonies.
Players lead a resistance movement trying to push back against that rule, with a campaign that moves across more than 20 levels. It is a familiar rebellion background story, but it gives the tactical battles a stronger sense of place.
Combat takes clear inspiration from classic turn-based wargames, especially the kind of structure that made Advance Wars easy to read but hard to master.

Tyrant Tactics: Birth of Revolution will include 28 units, with 16 of them built around ArmLoaders, the game’s mech units. That gives the roster a sci-fi edge, while still keeping the focus on positioning, unit roles, and army management.
One detail that stands out is the manpower system. Players do not simply lose units and move on. They have troop reserves, and once those reserves run out, surrender is the only option.
The game will feature four playable factions, each with its own units, commanders, and playstyle.

That should matter most in multiplayer, where the game supports both local and online matches for up to four players. Steam also lists Online PvP, Shared and Split Screen PvP, Remote Play Together, and Steam Achievements among the planned features.
Tyrant Tactics: Birth of Revolution uses 2D isometric pixel art with a retro military sci-fi look. The mix of mechs, faction warfare, and army-scale pressure could make it worth watching for players who miss fast, direct turn-based strategy games with a strong skirmish feel.
Tyrant Tactics: Birth of Revolution is currently available to wishlist on Steam, with no confirmed release date yet.
