The common goal among most up-and-coming regional (or international) mixed martial arts (MMA) prospects is to one day compete for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Other major promotions such as Bellator MMA, Professional Fighter’s Leagues, and ONE Championship are not far behind. Literally, countless prospects across the globe are all working toward the same career goal, making it difficult to stand out in the sea of competition. As often as possible, MMAmania.com will highlight a different combat sports prospect to keep your eyes on.
Artur Miniev
Age: 22
Height: 5’9”
Weight class: Lightweight
Record: 7-0
Gym: The Q/Syndicate MMA
Ukraine’s Artur Miniev didn’t always plan on becoming a fighter. Originally a soccer player, he transitioned into boxing and wrestling to defend himself — but as MMA surged in popularity in Ukraine, particularly through the UFC (and even EA Sports UFC 3), Miniev found his calling.
Within just one year of training, Miniev racked up nearly 50 bouts across multiple disciplines, including kickboxing, sambo, and MMA. Many of those early fights weren’t officially recorded due to his age, but after leaving Ukraine amid the ongoing war, he began building a documented resume. By 2023, he turned professional.
Now based in Las Vegas, Miniev has been nothing short of dominant.
Seven fights, six finishes — five of those in the first round — including a brutal knockout of longtime Bellator veteran Derek Campos in his latest outing.
Miniev checks every box. He’s young, marketable, speaks fluent English, and most importantly — he’s dangerous. He carries one-punch knockout power, mixes in strong offensive and defensive wrestling, and has a capable ground game to match.
In today’s UFC landscape, where excitement is king, Miniev fits perfectly.
While the 22-year-old is staying ready for a short-notice call by being on weight, he’ll take a spot on Season 10 of Contender Series this Fall, which could be more his speed as UFC CEO Dana White is looking for exciting fighters.
“I’m training twice every day so that when the UFC calls, I’ll be ready,” Miniev told MMAMania.com recently. “If they want me to go to Contender Series, I’m fine with that. I just want to show everyone that I’m ready. I’m here to knock people out and be interesting to people…I want to represent my country in the UFC. I need to represent Ukraine, because we have a very bad situation. I want to help with everything, you know?”
Whether it’s a short-notice call or a Contender Series opportunity, Miniev looks ready for the next step.
