Near and Far: The NIHR’s Regional and National Economic Impacts

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) invests around £1.6bn of public money each year in health and care research through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The aim of this report is to look into how much economic benefit the UK and its regions get from research spending through the NIHR. We were asked in particular to look at how spending in any one region of the UK has economic effects on other regions.
