Jake Paul not only threw fight fans off by his scheduled boxing match against kickboxer Cedric Doumbe this December, but “Problem Child” also left his own brother scratching his head.
Paul recently announced that he’ll return to the boxing ring on Dec. 24 from inside Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Some expected Paul to fight Darren Till or somebody bigger than him, but the social media influencer will instead take on Doumbe in a 200-pound cruiserweight matchup. The fight will be eight rounds and obviously serve as the Christmas Eve main event.
While Doumbe is a very accomplished kickboxer who once had a promising MMA career, he’s not the most obvious choice for Paul. “Problem Child” is coming off a smashing knockout loss to Anthony Joshua and in desperate need of a win, but Doumbe hasn’t fought in any combat format in well over two years. Seems like Paul could have reached deeper into the bag.
Earlier this week, Paul broke his upcoming fight news to older brother, Logan Paul, who had absolutely no idea who Doumbe was. The elder Paul was happy to see his brother get back on the horse after the Joshua loss, but was left in a state of confusion when Doumbe’s name was brought up.
