Khamzat Chimaev’s next match has been set, and it’ll be under the Real American Freestyle banner.
RAF announced that Chimaev will meet former UFC welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley on Sept. 5. The freestyle wrestling match will headline RAF Moscow. The promotion noted that tickets will be on sale in the near future, and fans can join a presale list.
Chimaev made his RAF debut against Dillon Danis back in June. Things went off the rails when Danis threw his foot up at Chimaev, who responded with a kick to the leg. Members from both teams stormed the mat and ended up brawling. There was some bad blood between the two going into their match, and many expect Chimaev and Woodley to be far more cordial in Moscow.
This actually won’t be Woodley’s RAF debut barring any last-minute changes. “The Chosen One” is currently scheduled to face Joaquin Buckley at RAF 12 on Aug. 22, which will be his promotional debut. There’s no word on whether or not a loss for Woodley against Buckley could hinder the matchup with Chimaev.
Chimaev has been looking to stay active as he awaits UFC’s next move in the middleweight division. “Borz” lost the UFC Middleweight Championship to Sean Strickland via split decision back in May. While Chimaev has been demanding a rematch, Nassourdine Imavov insists he’s been promised a title opportunity.
Woodley was last seen in action in late 2025. He suffered a second-round TKO loss to UFC legend Anderson Silva in a boxing match. After going 0-3 in the sweet science, the once dominant 170-pounder is looking to find more comfort with freestyle wrestling at 44. Other aging stars such as Urijah Faber and Frankie Edgar have turned to RAF with varying results.
