Jean Silva confused fans worldwide when he became desperate to take off his gloves following his UFC Noche win.
Why did Jean Silva take off his gloves at Noche UFC?
Jean Silva secured a third-round submission win over short-notice opponent Jose Miguel Delgado earlier tonight at Noche UFC. In Round 3, Silva dropped Miguel Delgado and then sank in a rare naked choke to force the tap.
After securing the submission, Silva celebrated with his trademark barking gesture directly in the Mexican fighter’s face, something Miguel Delgado clearly did not appreciate.
After that, Silva jumped out of the octagon and, while speaking with Hunter Campbell, began taking off his gloves.
Once Silva removed his gloves, it became clear that he had done so to shake Campbell’s hand, gift him the gloves, and perhaps send a message that “Lord” should be next in line for a 145-pound title shot after the UFC 333 title bout: Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev.

After getting his hand raised at Noche UFC, “Lord” announced himself as the “new champion.” During the post-fight octagon interview with Daniel Cormier, the Brazilian added:
“Whoever holds that belt, the next champion is right here. There’s a new champion in town.”
