Alex Pereira punched Jamahal Hill really hard.
Next month, Pereira attempts to make history, moving up in weight to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at UFC White House. Should he win, “Poatan” will become the first person in history to win belts in three UFC weight classes, and ahead of the event, the UFC has already started a long promotional lead-up, including releasing behind-the-scenes footage of Pereira’s epic win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300.
The newly released footage goes through the whole UFC 300 fight week, including the change in energy between Pereira and Hill as the fight got closer. A few days before the event, Pereira and Hill interact amicably, with Hill getting Poatan to sign a hoodie for him, and Pereira explaining that his trademark phrase, ‘Chama,’ means ‘Let’s go.’ Then, at ceremonial weigh-ins the day, we see the heated faceoff between the two the day before the event.
The video culminates with the UFC 300 main event and Poatan’s nasty KO win over Hill, with new footage showing Hill didn’t even know what happened.
“I lost?” Hill asks referee Herb Dean.
Hill goes on to tell Pereira he respects him after the loss, and Pereira’s coach, Glover Teixeira — who lost a title fight against Hill — celebrateing the win as well.
“I’m not saying you avenged me or anything, but damn, it feels good, huh?” Teixeira says while hugging Poatan.
