Kyiv (Ukraine) / Ulm (Germany), 05 October 2026 – On the sidelines of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to Ukraine, HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence to strengthen air defence surveillance.
HENSOLDT and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence are deepening their strategic partnership to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence surveillance. The memorandum of understanding provides for further large-scale deliveries of radar systems. The collaboration also encompasses the further development of radar capabilities. In addition, the partners intend to examine options for the deployment and joint operation of TRL-4D LR long-range radars. HENSOLDT is thus expanding the collaboration already agreed upon in the field of ballistic missile defence. With its proven sensor technology and expertise, HENSOLDT aims to support the operational readiness of the Ukrainian armed forces and contribute to the protection of the Ukrainian population and the country’s critical infrastructure.
“The coming winter will be another major test for Ukraine, particularly for its civilian infrastructure. President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people can rest assured that HENSOLDT stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. We are doing everything in our power to strengthen the protection of people and infrastructure,” says HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre. “The Ukrainian air defence forces urgently need our high-performance radars to help protect infrastructure such as bridges. The agreement is an important step towards ensuring this support is reliable and long-term.”
