Ironhide Game Studio is celebrating 15 years of Kingdom Rush with a special reveal for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis, announcing that the upcoming tower defense title will launch with a new Classic Mode inspired by the original 2011 game.
Scheduled to release on September 24, 2026, Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis takes us back to the early days of Linirea, exploring the events before the original Kingdom Rush while bringing back the strategy-focused gameplay that made the franchise popular.
The new mode brings back the original Kingdom Rush strategy setup
Classic Mode allows you to experience the Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis campaign with a setup inspired by the original game. Instead of the newer progression systems, you will defend Linirea using one hero, the classic four tower families, and familiar abilities.
The mode includes Barracks, Archer, Mage, and Artillery towers, along with their original upgrade paths and specialist towers. Fan favourites such as Rangers Hideout, Holy Order, Arcane Wizard, Tesla x104, and Big Bertha will all make their return, with access to the iconic Rain of Fire and Reinforcements spells.
Alongside the Classic Mode announcement, Ironhide has also shared some major changes coming to Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis based on community feedback. The studio confirmed that the previously revealed individual tower leveling system has been removed after players raised concerns about progression and grinding.
According to Ironhide, the system did not fit what Kingdom Rush has always been about: experimenting with strategies and overcoming challenges through smart tower placement. The game will now return to a global upgrade system, while the user interface is also receiving a major redesign to better match the style and personality of the series.
Kingdom Rush first launched in 2011 and has since grown into one of the most recognised tower defense franchises on mobile. What started as a small project created by three friends in Uruguay has expanded into a series loved by millions of players worldwide.
