CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The suspect from Monday night’s double shooting at Fountain Square turned himself in to police Sunday evening.
FOX19 NOW was outside the Cincinnati Police Department’s District One headquarters when alleged shooting suspect Shaquille Ferguson and his attorney Clyde Bennett arrived for his surrender.
In an interview with FOX19 NOW, Ferguson’s attorney says his client did nothing wrong. He says this is a case of self-defense.
“In Ohio, you have the right to defend yourself,” Bennett said.
He adds that there is more to the story than the videos that have been released.
“I think there’s some other videos out there that will show that the individuals in that restaurant were actually armed and pointing a gun at him,” he said.
Bennett says the reason only one video has been released is because of the political climate in the city and “the agendas of certain individuals.”
“This is a random act of a person defending themself,” Bennett told FOX19 NOW.
Bennett says the 24-year-old is being charged with felonious assault for the shooting.
The case has elicited sharp reactions from local political leaders and businesses concerned about safety in the city’s center.
