UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier responded to Jon Jones’ claim that he’s willing to continue their feud for financial purposes.
UFC legends Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones treated fans to two of the most iconic fights in light heavyweight history during their careers. From weigh-in brawls to tense joint interviews, Jones and Cormier were at the center of one of the biggest feuds in UFC history.
Cormier and Jones reunited on the set of ALF Reality 3 earlier this year in Thailand, a spinoff of The Ultimate Fighter, and the two legends didn’t disappoint. Despite some tense moments during the show, Cormier and Jones have developed some cordiality in a striking difference from their UFC bad blood.
Jones raised eyebrows recently when he claimed that on the ALF Reality 3 set, Cormier told him that he’s ‘made too much money’ hating Jones to bury the hatchet. This led some to believe that Cormier and Jones’ beef might’ve been fabricated to generate interest.
Daniel Cormier clarifies he still ‘hates’ Jon Jones after rival’s recent claims
In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Cormier responded to Jones’ recent claims about an alleged conversation they had about their rivalry.
“That just didn’t happen,” Cormier said of Jones’ comments.
“It wasn’t a conversation that Jon and I had, it just isn’t. It isn’t a conversation that we had in regards to…hey, have I made a lot of money because Jon Jones and I have been on the wrong side of each other? Yes. And so did Muhammad Ali with Joe Frazier, and Ali with George Foreman, Khabib with Conor McGregor. You always need a person on the other side in order to make the big dollars. That isn’t a false thing. Jon and I got big money to go to Thailand, and of course, we made money because our rivalry has been what it’s been. But it doesn’t mean that it’s fabricated…it’s not what it used to be, and we can operate around each other.
“Jon Jones, I do still hate you, and I always will,” Cormier continued. “We said nasty things about each other and each other’s families, and that doesn’t just go away. Jon’s just crazy…he’s almost lost, and why is there interest in two old dudes arguing with each other?”
