The spiritpunk deckbuilder mixes short runs, mid-fight deckbuilding, battlefield hazards, explosive chain reactions, and a city built under soul-powered oppression.
Crownbreakers will launch its Kickstarter campaign on May 12, 2026. The tactical card-combat deckbuilder by the developer Sharkbomb Studios (Nowhere Prophet) is now on its pre-launch page, where players can follow the project and get notified when the campaign goes live. A special limited-time offer is also planned shortly after launch.
Crownbreakers takes the familiar deckbuilder structure and pushes it toward shorter runs, direct battlefield control, and mid-fight deckbuilding.
Players use cards to shove enemies into better positions, trigger hazards, set off explosive barrels, and build chain reactions across the arena. Momentum plays a key role, letting players push deeper into the districts ruled by the game’s tyrants, collect new rewards, and work toward boss fights.

Crownbreakers takes place in a spiritpunk city where soul-powered magic exists, but the ruling class has turned it into another tool of extraction.
The tyrants at the top have built their empires by draining souls from the poor, and the player’s job is simple enough. Break through their districts, support the communities caught in the middle, upgrade cards with stickers, and hit the oppressors where it hurts.
I think it’s a very interesting project that deserves support through Kickstarter and by adding it to your Steam wishlist. Below, I share the announcement trailer.
