Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor was not in a good mood earlier tonight at the BKFC 96 post-fight presser.
During the press conference, McGregor was asked who he wants to face when he comes back to the octagon next year for his last dance, and “The Notorious” reaffirmed that it has to be Max Holloway.
Earlier this year, when the Irishman returned to the octagon after a five-year hiatus to run it back with Holloway at UFC 329, his comeback bout ended in just 69 seconds due to a meniscus and ACL tear in his right knee. McGregor lost by TKO due to injury.
The 38-year-old had surgery a few weeks after the loss and is currently rehabbing. He wants to get back next year during International Fight Week and wants to face no one but “Blessed.”
Conor McGregor TORCHES Max Holloway while demanding trilogy
Earlier tonight, at the BKFC 96 post-fight presser, “The Notorious” went on a massive rant about Max Holloway. Conor McGregor said that Holloway called for the stoppage at UFC 329 and refused to engage even once during the rematch.
McGregor also added that he suffered the same injury in his first fight against Holloway, yet managed to defeat the Hawaiian and return to the octagon just nine months later after recovering. This time too, he’s confident he can pull off something similar. The Dubliner quipped:
“It has to be Holloway. Just do the fu**ing thing again… The guy [Holloway] didn’t engage once. He’s the one that called for the stoppage… I’d have done him on the one leg… It was just so shocking and heartbreaking to me, and I am still f**king dealing with it.”
He added:
“It has to be Holloway. Just fu*king dust it off. Redo it… Holloway might be a jacka*s, something might happen. But a fighter that fights me, put some respect on my name. If you’re not a world champion fighter, don’t even utter my f*cking name… If you’ve done f*ck all but got a few likes, go f*ck yourself.”
