Supercell is taking Clash Royale back to school with Season 87 titled Minion Academy. As revealed earlier, the season introduces a brand-new card, Minion Giant, alongside Hero Ice Wizard, new cosmetics, and plenty of events.
The new season shifts the focus towards the Minions and Ice Wizard, with Minion Giant joining the game as a new Win Condition and Hero Ice Wizard bringing a new way to use the classic troop. Here’s everything you need to know about Clash Royale Season 87 Minion Academy.
Clash Royale Season 87 “Minion Academy” Overview
New Card: Minion Giant
Season 87 introduces Minion Giant, a completely new card and the second new card release of 2026. The Rare card is a flying Win Condition that targets buildings and attacks from range by spitting its toxin at enemies.
Minion Giant was mysteriously formed during an attempt to create the very toxin he spits out. Unlike the regular Giant, this version flies across the Arena and attacks from a distance, giving it a different role from the traditional building-targeting tanks.
Minion Giant will initially be available through a Live Event, while after the release season it will become available at Arena 5 on Trophy Road, requiring 1,300 Trophies.
New Hero: Ice Wizard
The main Hero of the new season is Hero Ice Wizard, which brings a new ability called Frosty Fella to the classic Ice Wizard. The ability costs 2 Elixir and spawns a Snowman that freezes nearby enemies. The Snowman appears behind a target affected by the Ice Wizard’s slowdown, with the freeze remaining active while the Snowman survives.
The ability also deals area damage when the Snowman appears, while the frozen enemies remain frozen until the Snowman is defeated or disappears. The Snowman has a seven-second lifetime and can be affected by several movement effects, including Tornado.
Hero Ice Wizard will be available as the main Hero in the first milestone of Premium Pass Royale. You can choose between Hero Ice Wizard, 6 Evolution Wild Shards, 1,500 Rare Wild Cards, or 150 Epic Wild Cards. It can also be unlocked directly from the claim pool for 200 Hero Coins.
Free and Diamond Pass Royale overview
Season 87 continues Clash Royale’s two-track Pass Royale system, splitting rewards between the Free Pass and Diamond Pass depending on progression and Arena level.
For players below Arena 15, the Free Pass continues to focus on progression rewards such as Gold, Wild Cards, Boost Potions, and Lucky Chests. Once you reach Arena 15, the Diamond Pass unlocks premium cosmetics, seasonal rewards, and access to Hero Ice Wizard.

The main Tower Skin for Season 87 is Minion Academy, available through Pass Royale, while the Album Event also features its own Minion Giant-themed cosmetic.
Alongside the Tower Skins, several new emotes are available throughout Ranked rewards, seasonal events, Pass Royale, Crown Chase, Victory Run, and the Album Event. These include Ice Wizard Browsing, Ice Wizard Dance, Ice Wizard Salt Snow, Minion Giant Burp, Minion Giant Homework, Minion Giant Spit, and Minion Giant Unfit.
The season also adds new Battle Banners, themed after the new season. The boosted cards for Season 87 are Minions, Minion Horde, Mega Minion, and Ice Wizard.
