Renato Moicano has reacted after his UFC Vegas 123 TKO loss, and no, he did not slam veteran referee Dan Miragliotta or blame him for the defeat.
Moicano locked horns with the surging Tom Nolan earlier tonight at the Meta Apex, and everything was going as planned for the Brazilian until Miragliotta intervened.
In the opening round, Moicano secured enough ground control time after taking Nolan down, and even after five minutes, Moicano stuck to the same approach. He shot for another takedown, secured a body lock, and once again dragged the Australian down, ragdolling him on the canvas.
However, in the second half of the second stanza, when Moicano had Nolan’s back, the referee decided to stand them up.
After the reset, the script flipped, and Moicano nearly got finished in the closing seconds of the second. However, the damage he absorbed took its toll, and he was eventually TKO’d by Tom Nolan in the third round.
No one is doubting Nolan’s skills or taking away from his big win tonight. However, many fans are wondering what might have happened if the referee hadn’t taken away Moicano’s dominant position in the second round.
Fans, fighters, analysts, and MMA personalities have all blasted the ref for his decision. However, Renato Moicano has so far refrained from making any negative comments and has shown mercy to Dan Miragliotta.
