The National Guard Bureau, the District of Columbia National Guard and the U.S. General Services Administration have awarded apartment-hotel rental company Placemakr $292 million to provide up to 2,000 “apartment-style lodging units” for troops assigned to the Joint Task Force-District of Columbia mission, the Guard announced. The contract, the largest interagency lodging acquisition in the history of the Guard, comes as part of ongoing support for the Trump administration’s “Making D.C. House Democrats on Wednesday introduced legislation that would require agencies to provide members of Congress with greater access to government facilities for oversight purposes. “I have personally been denied access to [U.S. Agency for International Development], the U.S. Institute of Peace, a public meeting at the Department of the Interior and repeatedly delayed in conducting oversight at [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] facilities,” said Rep. At the Farnborough International Airshow, the British training company HeliOperations and the German simulation specialist Reiser Simulation and Training signed a groundbreaking agreement. An Israeli Navy Dolphin class submarine surfaced off the coast of Eilat in in the Red Sea recently, in a rare public appearance, drawing the attention of beachgoers and swimmers along the Red Sea shore.
