GRYPHLINE’s beloved 3D strategy RPG, Arknights: Endfield, has fallen into controversy after issuing an apology to its Korean community over concerns surrounding alleged pinch gestures in some operator animations. The incident comes just a month after the Tangtang EP removal controversy, putting the game back in the spotlight for another unexpected reason.
GRYPHLINE responds to concerns from Korean players
So, in a statement shared on Naver, Community Manager Pelica said the team had reviewed feedback submitted by community administrators regarding the motion expressions of several operators. The devs apologized for the concern caused and confirmed that the issue has been “forwarded to the relevant department and is undergoing internal review.“
The team also explained that the game’s animations are created with character design, visual quality, and natural animation in mind, with no hidden meaning behind the gestures. Even so, GRYPHLINE said it is reviewing whether certain animations should be adjusted if you find them unnatural and will continue listening to community feedback.
That said, the apology has received mixed reactions, with many global players defending the devs. Several fans pointed out that the alleged pinching gestures are “barely visible,” often appearing “in between frames too, or characters mid-snapping fingers animation.“

Some global fans also questioned why the issue became controversial at all, with one fan joking, “How is Korea a real place?“Personally, I think the pinch gestures debate has gone on long enough, and if there was no intentional meaning behind the animations, it’s time to let the issue rest and focus on Arknights: Endfield itself.
