Alex Pereira is not a fan of Ciryl Gane.
The Brazilian will tell anybody willing to listen how Gane only defeated him because of illegal shots to the back of the head (watch the finish here). He’s campaigned for a rematch and to have referee Herb Dean sacked. Despite Gane having won the first round, Pereira claims that Gane was “dead tired” and forced to rely on illegal shots to steal the victory.
In a post on Instagram, Pereira reacted to the divisional change and had a laugh in the process. Check out his post below:
In the graphic above, Gane’s Heavyweight resume is broken down and criticized. It reads, “Lost to Francis [Ngannou], lost to [Jon] Jones, [Alexander] Volkov was daylight robbery, 10 illegal head shots to Potan [sic].” There’s also a caption that reads “Same circus, different belt.”
In other words, the push for the rematch begins in earnest.
At the moment, signs are pointing to a Gane vs. Pereira rematch as the next Heavyweight title fight. There are other options, however. Notably, Josh Hokit has been raising hell at the idea of being skipped over for a man who has yet to win a UFC fight at Heavyweight. Meanwhile, Alexander Volkov really should have scored the nod over Gane in their rematch. Despite promises that UFC would make it up to him, Volkov still has not fought for the title.
Unfortunately for Hokit and “Drago,” money talks, and “Poatan” remains one of the sport’s biggest stars.
