After nearly a decade in the works, 2XKO finally hit the stage this January, but it unfortunately won’t be sticking around as long as everyone hoped.
Following last week’s announcement that Riot Games was ceasing development on the fighting game already, 2XKO’s developers are sharing what’s next for the title in their penultimate major update.
The team came back today to further discuss what’s going to be included in their Version 1.3.1 patch scheduled for September 8, and there’s going to be quite a bit.
That of course includes Lux as their second to last new character, who they describe as an all-rounder, so she won’t be a zoner like some fans feared.
The Lady of Luminosity is said to have a straightforward gameplan that rewards fundamentals with strong normals, a good projectile, a solid DP and an air dash.
Riot is also going to be dropping their final major balance patch for 2XKO then where they’re improving the distance on pushblock at the cost of a few more recovery frames, and you can save your assists by tagging after a Break or pushblock without an action to get them out of the way instantly.
Freestyle is receiving some adjustments while champions are having their hurtboxes standardized and getup attacks will require a hold to perform wakeup options more easily.
As for the game’s balance, the devs are working to increase move diversity among the characters, reducing “frustrating outcomes” and striving for stability.

Although you can no longer spend money directly in the game at the moment, the next update is adding Lux’s Faerie Court costume as well as Demonic skins for Teemo, Illaoi and Warwick.
The Grand Hall of Veneration is on the way as a new stage, and private lobbies are being expanded to 40 players with voice chat support.
She won’t be coming until October, but the team talked a bit about Samira as well as the final character where they note she’s being made to “unleash creativity.”
Riot revealed a week ago that 2XKO will cease development support in December, so the full game won’t have ended up lasting a full year.
This is due to the company stating the League of Legends fighter failed to reach the metrics it needed to sustain continued support despite the dedicated playerbase 2XKO had garnered and some apparent growing momentum.
We should be seeing more of Lux very soon, and you can check out the full breakdown of what’s to come for 2XKO in their article below.
