Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has officially inaugurated the country’s new State Strategic Command Headquarters, known as “The Octagon”, in the New Administrative Capital east of Cairo. The ceremony included the signing of the official inauguration charter and the raising of the Armed Forces flag.
Designed as the Egyptian Armed Forces’ central command hub, the facility integrates command, control, communications and crisis management functions within a single complex. According to Egyptian officials, the headquarters employs advanced communications networks, artificial intelligence and cyber-secure systems to support decision-making, coordination and operational readiness across the armed forces and other state institutions.
The Octagon forms part of Egypt’s wider New Administrative Capital project and is described by the government as the largest strategic military headquarters in the Middle East. During the inauguration, President el-Sisi said the new headquarters reflects Egypt’s commitment to stability, security and strengthening its national defence capabilities.
