Update: This story is being updated with live results as they occur.
Evo Japan is back in 2026 with a massive bang and as usual, it will be taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
There are far too many names to list as far as notable attendees go, and the safest assumption is that any name you’d recognize for each of the games present will be there to battle it out in order to claim that Evo Japan championship title this weekend.
Street Fighter 6 is far and away the key title at Evo Japan 2026 with an astounding entrant number reaching almost 7,700 individual players, making it the biggest Street Fighter event we’ve seen so far, and by extension the biggest fighting game tournament in history as of yet.
Tekken 8 is next in line with over 880 signups followed by Guilty Gear Strive at more than 740 participants. Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising hit the 550 mark while Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves landed more than 430 names signed up.
2XKO fell just short of the 400 threshhold while Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers) managed to climb over the 300 line followed by King of Fighters 15 at more than 275 participants ahead of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage which amassed almost 200 competitors. Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:celes] and Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star all also surpassed 100 players as well.
Adding to this, there will of course be plenty of side tournaments in other titles being held as well, so be on the lookout for results for games even outside of these main stage titles as we’ll be continuously keeping you updated throughout the weekend here in our Evo Japan 2026 story.
Even if Street Fighter 6 is by far the largest title at the event, the biggest prize pool is actually held by 2XKO with a total of $87,125 up for grabs, thanks to a $75,000 pot bonus. Street Fighter 6’s full pot sits at $44,745, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has $40,260, Tekken 8’s is at $31,216, Guilty Gear Strive has $21,851, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising provides $18,730, King of Fighters 15’s sits at $13,510, Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers) awards $9,365, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage has $6,582, Melty Blood: Type Lumina reached a pool of $5,641, Hokuto no Ken has $4,701 and finally Under Night In-Birth 2 [Sys:celes] awards $3,761.
In each case, the prize pool is divided among the top 8 placers except for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and King of Fighters 15 which will have payouts all the way down to the full top 24 and top 12, respectively.
As for qualifiers and tour statuses, the top 2 placers in Street Fighter 6 as well as the top 4 finishers in Tekken 8 and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves all qualify to the Esports World Cup in their respective games. This is also a Premier Event on the Capcom Pro Tour for Street Fighter 6, a Master+ event for Tekken 8 on the Tekken World Tour, a qualifier for the SNK World Championship for both Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and King of Fighter 15, a qualifier in the new GBVS World Tour for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising as well as holding two qualifying spots for the Virtua Fighter Open Championship 2026 Special Event for Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O. World Stage.
