As Facebook reports
In his address, the head of the Ukrainian state, Volodymyr Zelensky, discussed with the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Yulia Sviridenko, an additional audit of the defense sector – defense enterprises – and the importance of publicly disclosing its results on a regular basis. According to the president, such transparency should help strengthen trust in state institutions and improve the effectiveness of governance of the defense sector.
The statement noted that the discussions cover audits in the energy sector and a full audit of the defense sector. It also emphasized the need for rapid collection of data on contracts and financial transactions.
“I spoke with the Prime Minister also about audits that have already begun in energy companies, and about an additional audit of the entire defense sector – defense enterprises. Such a military audit should be carried out as quickly as possible – relevant contracts, financial transactions, etc. I directed that the results be presented to the public, and that it would be preferable to present them weekly and to forward the materials to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.”
Transparency and the Future Steps of the Defense Sector Audit
The government is reportedly taking a systematic approach to auditing the defense sector, and the expectations from the updated data are to provide weekly access to the results and transfer materials to the appropriate law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies for further analysis.
The role of transparent management of the finances of the defense industry underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring financial stability and the efficient use of state resources in the context of national security.
