The Miami Dolphins and head coach Mike McDaniel suffered their sixth loss of the year against the Cleveland Browns. This dropped them to 1-6, with a three-game losing streak. With a brutal start to the season, Dolphin fans and much of the football world have started speculating how long Mike McDaniel will remain the team’s head coach.
Despite the talk surrounding his job security, McDaniel does not seem to let this affect him. In his post-game press conference, he made it clear he is not focused on protecting his job, but rather getting his team back on track.
Mike McDaniel Responds To Miami Dolphins’ Week Seven Loss
In the post-game press conference, McDaniel addressed the job speculations head-on by saying:
“So the way I look at this job is I find it very offensive to all parties involved if I’m thinking about having the job. I need to be doing my job. So for as long as I coach for the Miami Dolphins and this organization, they’ll get everything from me, and I refuse to spend my time thinking about something that, you have a job, you do your job, and you do it to the best of your ability. And that’s where my concern lies. I don’t, I think it’s offensive to all coaches, players, and the organization if I’m spending that precious time thinking about myself.”
His comment showcases that he is not letting any outside pressure affect his mindset. While fans and the media may be debating his future, Mike McDaniel is locked in on fixing what is happening on the field.
Dolphins’ Terrible Performance Against The Browns
Miami’s game in Cleveland exposed several key issues the team needs to fix. Miami lost by 25 points, committing 11 penalties, 6 fumbles, and allowing 31 points. Offensively, they were only able to get two field goals, finishing with a total of six points. Miami gained six points off two field goals.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had three interceptions, and even the special teams botched a field goal attempt, which at least resulted in a Brown penalty.
Mike McDaniel didn’t sugarcoat it,
“We did everything we could to lose the game. You saw a lot of frustration from the season seep into our play. I felt like emotional overreactions in the first half were detrimental to us. Four drives were sustained by penalties defensively.”
End Of My Miami Dolphins Rant
Sunday’s loss marked another difficult loss in the Dolphins’ season, but McDaniel’s comments showcased his focus on turning around the season. With plenty of the season left, Miami’s next few weeks will determine whether they can regroup before there is no time left.
