A former West Point cadet attended a graduate school after he pleaded guilty to assault.
The Associated Press, citing court records and a new lawsuit, reported Tuesday that Caleb Suh graduated from Cornell University this year and was a public health graduate student at Columbia University as of Oct. 28, when the woman at the center of the assault case sued in a New York Court.
In June, Suh pleaded guilty to the March 2022 assault on a 19-year-old cadet in the class below him. Authorities had accused him of drugging the unnamed cadet with abortion pills, with whom he was in a relationship, and causing a miscarriage that she did not want.
Suh is awaiting sentencing. No date has yet been scheduled.

The Assault Case
Suh told the judge he impersonated his then-girlfriend to open an online pharmacy account and order abortion medication.
He then obtained Xanax from a friend to use as a sedative and gave his girlfriend a drink, which he said was a prenatal protein shake. When she fell asleep, he administered the abortion pills orally and vaginally.
The woman claimed in the lawsuit that Suh woke up and realized she was bleeding. When she contacted him, he ignored her. She called 911 and medics hospitalized her.
“She’s suffered a life-changing event that she is still dealing with and will be dealing with for the rest of her life,” her lawyer, Russell Kornblith, the woman’s attorney, told the AP on Monday.
Suh told the court in June that he was “deeply and immeasurably sorry for my actions and the pain that I have caused.”
West Point’s Role
At the time of the crime, Suh was competing to become the first captain of West Point, according to the New York Times. The academy gives this honor to the top cadet in each graduating class.
The woman reported Suh to the Army Criminal Investigation Division at West Point in May 2022, according to the AP, citing the lawsuit.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia Cohen told the court in June that Suh had told a West Point investigator the miscarriage was an accident and denied that he’d ordered abortion medication.
Wider Scrutiny of Cornell University
The school that Suh transferred to during the 2023-2024 school year faces intense institutional scrutiny following a September 2026 civil lawsuit by a former student identified publicly as “Jane Doe.”
The lawsuit, which has garnered national attention, alleges she was drugged and gang-raped by seven Chi Phi fraternity members in 2024, accusing the university of a cover-up and failing to properly investigate the incident.
The case has triggered mass campus protests, a pending faculty no-confidence vote against administration leadership, and a Netflix documentary. Amid criticism over how campus police handled the initial report, New York Governor Kathy Hochul stripped local prosecutors of the case, appointing State Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor.
Developments in this matter have been slim the past few weeks.
