Kai Asakura earned his first-ever UFC win streak earlier this morning (Sat., Aug. 29, 2026) at UFC Shanghai LIVE on Paramount+ from inside the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China, as the former RIZIN champion put a brutal stop to bantamweight veteran Aoriqileng with a second-round TKO (head kick and punches).
Asakura, who came into Saturday’s main event tilt a heavy betting favorite, was fresh off his first UFC victory last May when he stopped Cameron Smotherman via knockout (watch HERE). That performance ended a two-fight losing skid to start Asakura’s UFC tenure and proved to be a meaningful turning point in his young UFC career. Saturday was another opportunity for Asakura to showcase his elite skills and do it close to home.
Aoriqileng fought hard, but he was clearly outmatched from the opening bell. Asakura, who moved up from flyweight before his last fight, possessed an obvious speed advantage. Not to mention his high-level striking and distance control that created immediate issues for Aoriqileng. Asakura took his time and eventually scored a nasty head kick early into the second round that badly hurt Aoriqileng. It allowed Asakura to pile on a few knees and punches to force the referee’s hand.
