The former multi-time heavyweight champion has been in negotiations for months for a showdown against fellow British fighter Anthony Joshua but the two sides have been unable to come to an agreement. The location of the fight seems to be the sticking point with Fury and his promoters targeting the United States for the long awaited battle while Joshua and his promoter Eddie Heard have insisted the fight take place in England.
The long, drawn out process has finally gone far enough for Fury, who released a message on social media saying he’s done with this fight and he’s moving onto new potential opponents.,
“The facts are you don’t want to fight,” Fury said. “Because if you did, you’d be ready to rock and roll like I am. Tyson Fury has already said 1,000 times will fight anywhere, no problem at all.
“Turki Alalshikh has paid you tens of millions to fight and you’re still acting like little bitches. It is what it is. There’s nothing I can do. I can’t make a coward fight, can I? At the end of the day, you’ve showed your true colors. If A.J. was any sort of man, he’d overrule the sausage [Eddie Hearn] and he’d stand up and fight but obviously he’s not. That’s where we are. Good luck to you. One thing for sure is I won’t wait for a sausage who’s been knocked spark out by Daniel Dubois.”
Of course, Fury and Joshua have been rumored to fight numerous times over the years but the matchup has never actually gotten over the finish line to make it official.
This latest attempt to book the fight also involved UFC CEO Dana White and Zuffa Boxing but that still didn’t make negotiations any easier. Now it appears Fury vs. Joshua is dead in the water again.
“I’ve waited 10 years for this, I’ve been ready every time. Every single time,” Fury said. “But one thing I won’t be doing is wasting my later years at 38 years old with a freak who don’t want to fight. So I will move on. There are plenty of world champions out there who do want to fight, who do want to make some money so I’ll be giving them a knock.
“This is going nowhere. As always, 10 years later, still in the same boat. Still dragging on by a mouth piece, who’s an absolute piece of shit.”
