The 37th European Kyokushin Karate Championships took place in Świnoujście on April 24-25, 2026, with 468 competitors competing in kumite (fighting) and kata (forms), representing 25 countries.
On April 23, over 60 judges participated in the International Judges’ Course, led by Shihan Fernando Perez. The Championships were officially opened by the Mayor of Świnoujście, Joanna Agatowska; Vice Mayor, Roman Kucierski; President of the European Kyokushin Federation, Antonio Pinero; Secretary General of the Federation, Andre Drewniak; President of the Polish Karate Association, Maciej Sokołowski; and President of the West Pomeranian Karate Association, Andrzej Kłujszo. On the first day of the competition, competitors competed on three mats in the junior, junior, and youth kumite and kata categories.
In the evening, the European World Kyokushin Federation held its General. Meeting and Elections, during which the EKWF Board was elected: President Antonio Pinero, Vice President Hristo Traykov, Secretary General Andrzej Drewniak, and Treasurer Tomas Lopez. The date for the 6th Kyokushin World Championship was set for April 9-10, 2027, in Zaragoza, Spain. On the second day of the competition, competitors competed in the senior, youth, and masters (35+) kumite and kata categories. Medalists in all kumite and kata events received artistically crafted trophies and medals. The entire European Championships were broadcast live online.
As always, the auditorium was decorated with numerous banners referencing Japanese culture during the three consecutive European Championships held in Świnoujście (2017, 2022, and 2026). In the evening following the European Championships, a Sayonara celebration and disco were held, attended by approximately 200 people. The European Championships were organized by the Świnoujście Kyokushin Karate Academy, led by Sensei Paweł Sujka.
