“Fighting is all I know. It’s my job. It’s my living. I live and breathe this sport.” Scott McHugh has made his pitch ahead of BKB 60. On Saturday, October 10, the Leeds fighter will challenge Rolando Dy for the BKB super welterweight world title at Utilita Arena Newcastle.
The bout headlines the promotion’s first show in the city. McHugh, known as “The Mute,” has been here before. BKB calls him a five-time champion and a Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame inductee. Its September fight announcement put him on a five-fight winning streak, with three knockouts in that run. He is coming off a unanimous-decision win over Nick Bass, a result listed in his BKB fight history.
Scott McHugh Gets His Shot at Rolando Dy’s BKB World Title
For McHugh, Newcastle offers a chance to add another belt and take it home to Leeds. Dy has other plans. The Filipino champion won the title from Liam Rees and stopped former two-division boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi in the second round of his first defence.
BKB lists Dy at 6-1 with five knockouts in its fight announcement. He is also the son of former WBC champion Rolando Navarrete, though his own title run gives McHugh, 16-5, plenty to think about without the family history. The fight was originally set for the co-main event.
Newcastle fighter Mick Terrill had been due to headline against Kamil Sokolowski, but a cut sustained in a short-notice fight against heavyweight champion Gustavo Trujillo ruled Terrill out. Dy-McHugh moved to the top of the bill. McHugh had already made his intentions clear: “I’m always ready to spill blood… Rolando’s a great champion, but every champion loses eventually, and I plan on making that happen in Newcastle.”
Rolando Dy arrives in Newcastle with the belt McHugh wants. The Filipino fighter won the BKB super welterweight world title with a unanimous-decision victory over Liam Rees in December 2025, then defended it by knocking out former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi in the second round in May.
Known as “Dy Incredible,” the former UFC fighter has a 6-1 bare-knuckle record, with five wins by knockout. McHugh may have more BKB experience, but Dy has already shown he can beat a champion over the distance or end a fight early.
