The new trailer showcases a high-risk companion who trades strict Asuryani tradition for a suicidal mission and a fragile alliance with humanity.
Owlcat Games has released a new companion trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, this time focused on Laarthyr Cairnareth, an Aeldari Corsair who can join the player’s warband under dangerous political and ideological circumstances.
Laarthyr is an Anrathe, an Aeldari who once belonged to a Craftworld before leaving the strict path of Asuryani tradition behind.
His search for freedom eventually carried him into the life of a Corsair, though the new trailer frames him as someone who has now stepped away from even that existence. He is traveling alone on a mission described as almost suicidal, and his role as a Way Seeker makes that path even riskier.

As a Way Seeker, Laarthyr is an Aeldari psyker able to navigate the Webway and help guide the souls of his kin to the safety of spirit stones.
That talent gives him rare knowledge of the Warp, but it also places him in constant danger. His mission brings him to an Imperial world filled with humans he sees with open contempt, yet an alliance with an Inquisition acolyte may prove useful for both sides.
That alliance will not come without consequences. Recruiting a xenos companion inside an Inquisition-focused RPG is not a small narrative detail, and Owlcat is leaning into that tension.

Laarthyr can offer insight into alien cultures, xenos psychology, and Warp-related mysteries, but bringing him into the warband may push the player toward choices that look radical in the eyes of the Imperium.
In combat, Laarthyr is built as a close range fighter who uses dual swords, strikes at weak points, and manipulates the Warp to gain an advantage. He can also extend parts of his knowledge and protection to allies, making him more than a selfish damage dealer despite his arrogant personality.
Players can already recruit Laarthyr in the current Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy closed beta, available to those who purchased one of the Founder’s packs through the official website. The full game is planned for Windows PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
