The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has established the Innovation and Readiness Support Partnership (IRSP) alongside 14 nations. Multinational projects in the fields of innovation, testing, and readiness are to be developed and supported within nation-led project groups.
The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has established the Innovation and Readiness Support Partnership (IRSP) alongside 14 participating member nations. Designed as a flexible legal framework, this initiative enhances multinational capabilities to collaboratively develop, sustain, and support innovation, testing, and readiness projects across the full spectrum of peace, crisis, and conflict scenarios.
Through a lean organizational structure, the partnership accelerates technological advancement in alignment with NATO deterrence and defense objectives. It enables member states to rapidly address emerging security challenges through both short-term pilot initiatives and long-term capability projects. By pooling resources, establishing common standards, and fostering direct collaboration, the framework significantly improves interoperability among allied armed forces.
NSPA: National led Project Groups
Operationally, the partnership is divided into nation-led project groups, each focusing on specific capability and technology domains such as digitalization, maintenance innovations, and accelerated procurement. To date, no project groups have been established.
Participating countries provide leadership and domain expertise, while the NSPA’s Acquisition Planning and Development Office handles administrative support. The founding participating nations include Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom.
