Nate Diaz has unfinished business and plans to return to the octagon to claim what he believes is rightfully his.
The 40-year-old has set his crosshairs on the BMF title, which is currently in Max Holloway’s possession. Blessed’ will defend it next month at UFC 326 against Charles Oliveira in a rematch.
Diaz’s last octagon outing was in 2022, at UFC 279. Diaz fought Tony Ferguson, submitted the latter in Round 4, grabbed the Performance of the Night bonus, and decided to say farewell to the UFC.
Nate Diaz is coming back to the UFC: “I got unfinished business, and I plan on going and taking what’s mine”
Earlier this week, on Wednesday, the 40-year-old southpaw posted on X, announcing that he’s coming back for the BMF throne. He wrote:
“Let’s not act like I didn’t start a whole division bringing value to all these guys claiming they’re it. I gave opportunity and put notice on the dopest fights I got unfinished business, and I plan on going and taking what’s mine asap 1st to ever start a division and the dopest one at that. You’re welcome motherf**kers. I’ll see you soon, I’m coming👊🏼”

For the unversed, after Diaz scored a win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, he called out Jorge Masvidal and pitched the idea of the “baddest mother****er in the game belt.” During the octagon interview, which Diaz has added in his X post above, he said:
“We’re fighting for the baddest mother****er in the game belt, and that’s mine. I would like to defend it against Jorge Masvidal.”
Ahead of Diaz’s next fight, which was against Jorge Masvidal, Dana White announced that they would be competing for the BMF belt for the first time in UFC history.
Nate Diaz got what he wished for, but he didn’t get to wrap it around his waist, as he lost to Masvidal via TKO (doctor’s stoppage). Outside the UFC, Diaz got his revenge over ‘Gamebred’ inside the boxing ring in 2024, but he still isn’t content.
Dana White has previously stated that Diaz would be welcomed to the UFC if he ever wants to compete again. The Stockton native, on the other hand, has teased a return from time to time but says that everyone on the roster ‘sucks,’ a belief that is perhaps stalling any serious comeback talks.
But now, with Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal, and Nate Diaz all eyeing returns, and the UFC White House card taking shape at the same time, fans can only wait and see what’s really unfolding behind the scenes.
Whether it will be Diaz vs. McGregor 3 or Diaz vs. Masvidal 2 remains the question of the hour.
