Lightweights are headed to “Sin City.”
No. 8-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Mateusz Gamrot welcomes red-hot Australian prospect Quillan Salkilld to the main event scene when the two headline UFC Vegas 120 on Sat., Aug. 8, 2026, inside the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The promotion announced the matchup on social media.
Gamrot (26-4) will compete in his fourth UFC main event when he steps inside the Octagon next month. The Polish contender got himself back into the win column in his last outing at UFC 327, submitting Esteban Ribovics in the second round (watch highlights)
Prior to that, Gamrot was strangled by Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC Rio (watch it).
Still, “Gamer” remains one of the toughest outs in the Lightweight division. He is currently 9-4 inside the promotion, with notable wins over Arman Tsarukyan, Rafael dos Anjos, Rafael Fiziev and Jalin Turner.
To close out his 2025 rookie year, Salkilld went viral for a brutal head kick knockout of Nasrat Haqparast (watch it).
The 26-year-old is coming off the biggest win of his career, which also earned him a spot in the rankings, after knocking out Beneil Dariush at UFC Perth (watch highlights).
Now, in his first UFC main event, Salkilld gets a massive step up against one of the most proven Lightweights in the world.
Gamrot is trying to hold his place in the Top 10 and remind everyone he is still a problem at 155 pounds. Salkilld, meanwhile, has a chance to turn hype into a real title-contender conversation.
No other fights have been announced for UFC Vegas 120 just yet, but expect more news in the coming days.
For now, the main event is locked in — and it is a very fun Lightweight test.
