There’s more fighters listed than there are spots though, so they can’t all come in Season 1 at least even if they are real
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls just launched a week ago and will presumably have a long life ahead of it with future DLC support and updates for years to come.
Their Year 1 Character & Stage Pass contains four new Marvel fighters, and we may have a better idea as to who the candidates could be.
Phoenix Cyclops has already been confirmed as Marvel Tokon’s first DLC character, but what of the rest who haven’t been revealed yet?
Well despite the developers’ best attempts to encrypt and hide their data, that hasn’t stopped dataminers from poking around behind the scenes to see what they can uncover.
Datamining team X0XLeak is reporting they’ve found five characters mentioned in the 4v4 fighting game’s files that could show up in the future.
Potential spoilers for Marvel Tokon announcements to follow.
Those five fighters are Doctor Strange, the Wasp, Gambit, The Thing and Daredevil.
The team notes that they are possible prototypes or future characters, so there’s a chance they were worked on at some point and then scrapped though also that their reference points are different to those that show up as stage background cameos like the X mansion.

While Doctor Strange and Gambit have appeared in the Marvel vs. Capcom series in the past, the other three would open the door to brand new fighting game interpretations, which could be fascinating — and there’s plenty of Daredevil fans who’ve been waiting a long time to see that happen.

We had also heard mention of Doctor Strange before along with characters like Scarlet Witch, who haven’t come to fruition yet.
It needs to of course be pointed out, though, that all of these characters would not fit in the first year’s DLC pass since there’s only three open slots remaining for the season.
This also contradicts the recent speculation that Marvel Tokon’s comic book tie-in may have spoiled the DLC since none of these characters have shown up in the book (yet).
As for what else has been uncovered, the talented WistfulHopes says she hasn’t found much except for battle pass assets, so there’s a good chance those will be coming to the game in a future update.
btw, there’s not much to datamine out of tokon in terms of unreleased content (thank god). arcsys has gotten really good about cleaning up in the last few years

The official store page for Marvel Tokon’s Year 1 pass was recently updated to reveal the release windows for all of the new content coming through next Summer / Fall, so we can at least get a sense of when the major additions will arrive.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see more of Phoenix Cyclops and future reveals to see if any of these datamines / leaks hold water, so take all of this with a healthy grain of salt.
