Sounds of explosions heard in Sirik County were caused by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy confronting a deviant oil tanker that attempted to illegally transit the Strait of Hormuz in violation of Iranian security directives, according to a report.
Citing an Iranian security source, the IRIB News reported on Thursday that the incident followed fresh acts of aggression and maritime provocations by the terrorist and child-killing US regime against Iran’s southern coasts the previous night.
In direct response, the IRGC Navy has imposed tight control over the strategic waterway, issuing repeated public warnings that any unsafe navigation or unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be treated as a serious threat to Iran’s security and regional stability.
“Following the criminal actions of the American terrorist army on Iran’s southern coasts, the IRGC Navy has closed the Strait of Hormuz to unsafe and provocative navigation,” the source said.
“Through successive announcements, we have clearly warned all vessels against any attempt to pass through the strait. Such actions are considered a direct violation of security,” he added.
The source emphasized that the IRGC Navy will take decisive and severe measures against any deviant vessels, regardless of their type or nationality.
“Captains and ship masters should not be deceived by the false assurances or provocations of the US terrorist regime. They must strictly adhere to the IRGC Navy’s directives and remain anchored in safe locations,” he warned.
According to the security source, the vessel involved in the latest confrontation was an oil tanker that had been declared a violator of maritime order.
After receiving clear warnings from IRGC naval forces, the tanker was forced to abandon its attempt and comply with the prohibition on transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC Navy, acting in line with its inherent duty to protect Iran’s maritime sovereignty, continues to maintain full vigilance and active monitoring of the strategic waterway.
“Our forces are currently conducting comprehensive surveillance and patrol operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Any vessel that attempts to pass through this vital artery will be confronted firmly and decisively,” the source added.
This latest operation once again demonstrates the IRGC Navy’s firm resolve and complete control over the Strait of Hormuz in the face of ongoing American provocations and threats to regional peace and security.
