An Iranian parliamentary official has stated that confrontation with the United States must be intensified, while a political analyst has warned that Washington is seeking to normalize attacks on the country under the pretext of a ceasefire.
Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament Esmaeil Kowsari, said Wednesday escalating aggression by Americans stem from their “evil thinking” when they claim a ceasefire, but they are carrying out actions that contradict it.
“The Americans have no logic and understand nothing except force and power,” Kowsari added.
Late Tuesday night, the US military struck an Iranian oil tanker with an aerial projectile in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to the vessel’s engine room. It also targeted an IRGC communications tower in the southern part of Qeshm Island with aerial projectiles.
The IRGC said the incident prompted a response by its naval forces.
Fouad Izadi, an international affairs analyst, said the United States is seeking to normalize attacks on the country.
Izadi compared the situation to the fire in Gaza and Lebanon, where there is both a claimed ceasefire and ongoing attacks.
He explained that every day, America carries out an attack, and every day Iran responds. However, he noted, American military officials continue to say that they are still in a ceasefire.
“The reason is that if they admitted they were not in a ceasefire, the 60-day clock without congressional authorization for use of military force would start again,” Izadi explained.
The US military’s miscalculation in attacking an Iranian oil tanker and a telecommunications mast on Qeshm Island was met with an escalating, multi-layer chain of reaction.
The operation demonstrated a change in Iran’s military doctrine from “strategic patience” to “immediate and proportional response,” the IRGC said.
Using the formula of “one blow in return for one blow,” the IRGC first targeted an enemy vessel, and when the United States crossed red lines, it raised the response level to more strategic targets, according to Iranian military statements.
The dimensions of the operation challenged CENTCOM’s integrated air defense on three levels, the IRGC said.
On the surface dimension, the IRGC precisely targeted the vessel “Panaya” in the rough waters of the Persian Gulf. On the regional dimension, it simultaneously struck a US airbase and helicopter base in a neighboring country.
On the strategic dimension, it directly attacked the heart of US naval command in the region, namely the Fifth Fleet headquarters.
The geographic distribution of targets demonstrated intelligence dominance, drone superiority, and Iran’s cyber-electronic power in simultaneously directing precision weapons at fixed and moving targets, the IRGC said.
International affairs analysts said America’s repeated violations of ceasefires and agreements in the region stem from several factors. These include declining hegemony and fear of collapsing deterrence, pressure from Zionist lobbies, and attempts to test Iran’s red lines.
The White House is constantly trying to measure Tehran’s threshold of tolerance, but Tuesday night’s response showed that Iran’s threshold regarding national security is “zero,” the analysts said.
The response confirmed that Iran does not compromise in the face of threats and dictates the rules of the game, the IRGC said. Key messages included Iran’s active deterrence strategy, extra-regional response by striking US bases in regional countries, and the end of the era of “hit-and-run.”
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei had previously stated that the era of “hit-and-run” is over, the IRGC noted. Tuesday night’s response to the US Fifth Fleet proved that no American base, vessel, or personnel will be safe if they commit aggression against Iran.
The strike on the US airbase in a regional country sends a message that any country providing its soil or airspace to American aggressors for an attack on Iran will be considered a legitimate target bank, the IRGC said. This action will force host countries to reconsider security cooperation with CENTCOM.
The IRGC has returned to its original equation, stating that the Strait of Hormuz will be secure for everyone or, if the security of Iran’s oil exports is compromised, no one will taste security. The strike on the Iranian tanker’s engine room was answered with a strike on the heart of US naval command.
The combined operation of the IRGC Aerospace and Naval Forces was beyond a tactical military response and represented an objective doctrinal change in the geopolitics of the Persian Gulf, the IRGC said.
The Pentagon now knows that Iran’s war machine does not fear direct confrontation with extra-regional forces and is prepared to impose strategic and crippling costs on aggressors.
The event cemented Iran’s deterrence far beyond its maritime borders and made Washington understand that any repeat of error will mean the destruction of its main bases in the region.
Vice Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Hamidreza Hajiabaei said, “American has been checkmated in facing Iran.”
“The Americans and [US President Donald] Trump have become hopeless and desperate because of the power of Iran and the Iranian people. Many experts in the field of politics and international relations consider Iran to be the fourth greatest power in the world,” he said.
