One Piece Odyssey
- Developer: ILCA
- Release Date: 12 January, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page
It can be easy to dismiss a game based on an existing franchise as a cash grab, but One Piece Odyssey is a fantastic JRPG to the point where the presence of the Straw Hats is practically a bonus.
The game has all of the legendary series’ trademark strangeness, with each member of the main cast perfectly translated into an in-game party member. If you’re not already a fan of One Piece, Odyssey might make you one.
One Piece Odyssey usually goes for $39.99, but Steam has it for 75% off until 23 July. That puts the Standard Edition at $9.99, but we recommend the Deluxe Edition, which also gets the discount and comes out to $14.99. It includes a bunch of bonuses and cosmetics, and also the Reunion of Memories DLC scenario.
Darkest Dungeon II
- Developer: Red Hook Studios
- Release Date: 8 May, 2023
- Platform: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

While it has the same themes, aesthetics, and brilliant narration, Darkest Dungeon II is a very different game from the original.
With new and returning heroes to torment, challenging bosses, and quests that teeter on the brink of defeat, though, it’s just as tough. There’s also a new Kingdoms game mode, letting you defend your realm from the encroaching darkness when you want a break from the main Confessions campaign.
Steam has Darkest Dungeon II at 69% off until 19 July, letting you start your descent into madness for just $12.39 rather than the usual $39.99. The Resolute Edition, which includes all the DLC, is 54% off, coming in at $27.35 during the sale, so you can get the entire game for less than the standard price! While you’re at it, you can also get the original Darkest Dungeon for just $3.74, saving 85%.
Songs of Silence
- Developer: Chimera Entertainment
- Release Date: 13 November, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Steam Page

Songs of Silence combines the overworld map of Heroes of Might and Magic with a card-based autobattler and a gorgeously rendered fantasy world to create something new and wonderful.
With its distinct playable factions, each campaign can feel like a completely different game, and the story is practically begging to be uncovered as you get further into the lore.
This is a game you don’t want to miss out on, so catching it on sale is a great chance to pick it up. Steam has it for $13.49 until 23 July, a 55% discount off its standard price of $29.99. The various DLCs are anywhere from 10% to 50% off, and they add even more variety to an already exciting, diverse game.
Xenonauts 2
- Developer: Goldhawk Interactive
- Release Date: 2 April, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

If you’ve played XCOM to death and are looking for a new way to defend the Earth, Xenonauts captures the spirit of that great series while going off in its own direction.
Grounded in early-2000s military tech, Xenonauts 2 feels like what would happen if Tom Clancy wrote an alien invasion novel. For your part as the player, though, it’s still up to you to keep your squad of elite soldiers alive and wage an uphill battle… in a world where the Cold War never ended.
Xenonauts 2 is the kind of game that you really have to play to believe how good it is, especially compared to such a legendary title as XCOM. Luckily, it’s 50% off on Steam until 23 July, so you can start your campaign for $19.99 rather than the usual $39.99.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
- Developer: LEVEL5, QLOC
- Release Date: 22 January, 2013
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Plenty of games try to capture the look and charm of Studio Ghibli, but Ni No Kuni was actually created in collaboration with the storied animation studio. Wrath of the White Witch really does feel like you’re living inside a Ghibli film, full of quirky characters and a strange, wonderful, but sometimes frightening world.
If you missed this modern classic when it launched over a decade ago, or are looking to relive the magic, the Remaster is available on Steam at a generous 85% off until 23 July. Normally selling for $49.99, it’s currently reduced to $7.49.
Old World
- Developer: Mohawk Games
- Release Date: 19 May, 2022
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux
- Steam Page

Developed by veterans of the Civilization series, Old World focuses solely on the Bronze and Iron Ages but is the complete package when it comes to 4X gameplay.
From resource management, city building, and warfare to character interactions and succession crises, there’s something to do every turn and consequences for each choice. Its most recent DLC, Empires of the Indus, adds the Indian subcontinent, its cultures, and its wonders to the already-exciting mix of ancient societies.
Now is a great time to get into Old World, and Steam has it at 75% off until 23 July. You can get it for just $9.99 rather than the usual $39.99, and all of the DLC except Empires of the Indus are 25% off. Indus is 10% off, and it’s also the game’s biggest expansion to date, so it’s worth considering!
Valkyria Chronicles 4 Complete Edition
- Developer: Sega
- Release Date: 25 September, 2018
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

With its unique blend of turn-based and real-time gameplay, characters, and unique aesthetic, Valkyria Chronicles has rightly gained a cult following over the years.
Fans can debate over which game is the best, but for pure gameplay, I’d personally have to go with the fourth and most recent entry. The addition of light artillery units, plus a host of other improvements, makes for some of the most compelling battles the series has ever seen.
It’s also a great starting point for anyone who hasn’t played any of the other games – and don’t worry, you don’t need to in order to enjoy VC4. The Complete Edition, with all DLC, is listed at 80% off on Steam until 20 July. Normally selling for $49.99, it’s down to just $9.99, or you can get it bundled with the original Valkyria Chronicles and have the two best games in the series ready to go.
SKALD: Against the Black Priory
- Developer: High North Studios AS
- Release Date: 30 May, 2024
- Platform: Windows, Mac
- Steam Page

SKALD is inspired by retro CRPGs, and it really captures the feel of the early days. From the pixelated look to the dark-fantasy setting to the party mechanics and, of course, the lethal encounters, this is a bloody, nostalgic dream.
If you’re looking for a challenge and a mystery to uncover, look no further than the Black Priory… if you dare.
You can get SKALD: Against the Black Priory for $7.49 on Steam, saving 50% off of its usual $14.99 price tag. The Deluxe Edition is also discounted, and at $11.22 includes the Reinforcement Pack. With some cosmetics and extra character backgrounds, it might have the edge you need to survive – or if not, at least your heroes can look their best at their demise.
Space Prison
- Developer: Wooden Alien
- Release Date: 18 July, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Steam Page

In Space Prison, you’re an inmate in the roughest, deadliest detention facility in the galaxy. Part survival RPG, part tactical battler, you’ll have to join a gang and rise through the ranks, gaining reputation and power among the other inmates as you prepare your escape.
You can also upgrade your cell and tame pet rats to keep yourself company, which is always a plus!
Space Prison has a free demo on Steam, and the full game is discounted to just $5.99 right now. It goes back up to $19.99 on 23 July, so if you’re looking to put your jailbreak skills to the test, be sure to get it before then!
Astria Ascending
- Developer: Artisan Studios
- Release Date: 30 September, 2021
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Astria Ascending packs an impressive amount of customization into its beautifully hand-drawn world. Its eight playable Demi-Gods can be developed through 20 different classes, branching skill trees, and support abilities, giving you plenty of freedom when assembling your preferred party.
The turn-based combat rewards exploiting weaknesses and managing Focus Points, which can be saved to strengthen later actions. The story and pacing may not work for everyone, but players who enjoy experimenting with jobs, abilities, and party compositions will find plenty to work with.
Astria Ascending normally costs $34.99, but it’s currently 90% off on Steam until 28 July. That brings the complete base game down to just $3.49, making its rougher edges much easier to overlook.
Rise Eterna & Rise Eterna 2
- Developer: Makee, Forever Entertainment
- Release Date: 9 June, 2021
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Rise Eterna series is a tactical RPG inspired by the 16-bit era of Japanese strategy games. Its grid-based battles feature up to 14 recruitable characters, each carrying distinct abilities and a place within Lua and Natheal’s journey.
Character development revolves around skill points and gems crafted from materials collected during battle. It’s more approachable than many of the classics that inspired it, making it a reasonable entry-point series for newcomers to tactical RPGs.
Steam has Rise Eterna at 90% off until 20 July, reducing it from $19.99 to $1.99. Curiously, the Rise Eterna Bundle, which also includes Rise Eterna War, is currently even cheaper at $1.48 after its stacked discounts, so check that option before buying the base game separately.
Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th
- Developer: Goonswarm Games
- Release Date: 25 November, 2024
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux
- Steam Page

Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th combines party-based turn-based combat with the unpredictability of a roguelite. You’ll assemble a group of troubled adventurers, explore procedurally generated regions, learn enemy weaknesses, and gradually prepare to confront the monstrous Sin Lords.
Its most distinctive system is the Sinometer. Greedy and sinful actions can provide better rewards, but they also make the world more dangerous, introducing stronger enemies and potentially drawing the attention of a Sin Lord. Reign of the 8th also adds another region while revising the progression and balance of the original release.
Normally priced at $19.99, Sin Slayers is 90% off on Steam until 20 July, bringing it down to only $1.99. The $2.99 Supporter Pack is also worth considering, as it includes the base game, digital artbook, and soundtrack.
Born of Bread
- Developer: WildArts Games
- Release Date: 5 December, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

The Paper Mario influence is immediately apparent in Born of Bread, but its charmingly strange world and lovable flour-golem protagonist give it an identity of its own. Loaf is joined by several companions whose individual abilities can be used during combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.
Battles mix traditional turn-based commands with timed inputs that increase damage or improve defense, while weaknesses and resistances encourage you to choose the right companion for each encounter. It’s a lighthearted RPG, but there’s enough mechanical variety beneath the colorful presentation to keep combat engaging.
Born of Bread is 85% off on Steam until 28 July, reducing its usual $24.99 price to $3.74. The Baker Edition is arguably the better deal at $5.20, as it includes the game, soundtrack, and digital artbook.
Front Mission Remake Trilogy
- Developers: Forever Entertainment, Storm Trident, MegaPixel Studio
- Release Dates: 30 June, 2023 / 30 April, 2024 / 30 January, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Pages: Front Mission 1st | Front Mission 2 | Front Mission 3

The first three Front Mission remakes provide a substantial tour through one of the defining tactical mech series. Each game combines grid-based combat with detailed Wanzer customization, letting you swap body parts, weapons, armor, and other components to prepare your machines for different battlefield roles.
The campaigns become more structurally ambitious as the trilogy progresses. Front Mission 1st includes two perspectives on the same conflict, the second game switches between three protagonists, and Front Mission 3 features two divergent storylines determined by an early decision. These are faithful remakes worth considering.
All three games are discounted on Steam until 20 July. Front Mission 1st is 90% off at $3.49, Front Mission 2 is 70% off at $10.49, and Front Mission 3 is 40% off at $20.99. If you don’t own any of them, the Tactical Warfare Bundle is the obvious choice: Steam lists the complete trilogy at 67% off for $27.97.
Terra Memoria
- Developer: La Moutarde
- Release Date: 27 March, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Terra Memoria takes the traditional party-based RPG in a warmer, cozier direction. Its six-character group travels between the past and present while investigating disappearing crystals and the sudden return of ancient machines.
Turn-based battles are only one part of the journey. Exploration, environmental puzzles, crafting, and village construction all receive time in the spotlight, while the combination of pixel-art characters and 3D environments gives the world a storybook-like appearance.
It’s an especially good fit for anyone looking for an RPG that allows its characters and surroundings room to breathe.
Steam has Terra Memoria at 70% off until 28 July, bringing the price down from $19.99 to $5.99. The Deluxe Edition costs $8.61 during the promotion and adds the soundtrack and digital artbook.
