The title I’m showing you today is one of the SRPGs I talked about over the past few days. It’s called Hibera, Requiem for the Forgotten, developed by Bad Juice Games, and it’s a tactical RPG with an old-school charm I think you’ll appreciate.
It clearly draws inspiration from the classic GBA-era SRPGs, but with all the quality-of-life features and polish a modern UI can offer.
Hibera, Requiem for the Forgotten, is a strategy RPG built around continent-wide war, personal loyalties, and grid-based battles where bad positioning can cost a character for good. It follows two groups caught on opposite sides of the conflict, with Maebh trying to protect her brother after a dangerous deal, and Alto forced into command during a brutal military campaign.
The Fire Emblem influence is clear, especially in the weapon triangle, permadeath, terrain bonuses, fog of war, and character-driven roster, but Hibera adds its own flavor through a fantasy world shaped by Irish culture, Renaissance-era warfare, and a broader toolset that includes crossbows, arquebuses, grenados, buffs, debuffs, consumables, and multiple forms of magic.
I tried the demo available on Steam and recorded a short gameplay clip to give you an idea of what it’s all about.
