Jon Jones may be a heavyweight fighter, but he’s still not big enough to take care of “The Beast Incarnate” known as Brock Lesnar.
While Jones and Lesnar competed in two separate weight classes when they shared the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster there now exists a world in which “Bones” and the former WWE champion could meet. That would be on the wrestling mat under the growing banner that is Real American Freestyle (RAF).
Of course, a wrestling superfight between Jones and Lesnar is unlikely to happen anytime soon. That’s because both superstars would need a bankroll that RAF probably doesn’t have and both are officially retired from combat sports. But that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about what would happen if Jones and Lesnar ever tied up on the mat.
Earlier this week, former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was questioned about the potential matchup and he held no punches. According to “Nigerian Nightmare,” Lesnar would be too much for Jones to handle.
“This is an outrageous question…who would win? Hypothetically, I would say the sheer size of Brock Lesnar and the way he wrestled,” said Usman during a recent episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Henry Cejudo.
“Brock Lesnar wasn’t necessarily a guy ripping shots all the time, but he could wear guys down…Brock would be a bit more offensive, and trying to get a guy of that size down multiple times? I just don’t see it.
“I think Brock Lesnar potentially [wins].”
Jones, who is supremely confident and never one to shy away from a challenge, took to social media to deliver a message to Usman and Lesnar.
“[Kamaru] I’m getting my hand raised against you and Brock in the same night,” said Jones.
