The launch update adds a story route, a canonical ending, more mech parts, quality of life changes, and Steam Deck verification.
NITRO GEN OMEGA will leave Early Access on May 12 with a major 1.0 update that gives the sandbox RPG a full Main Quest, new progression flow, and a long list of gameplay and interface improvements.
The update is designed to give the game a stronger narrative spine while keeping its contract-based structure, mech building, and crew management intact.
The new Main Quest starts in Anchorage and sends players across the Continent for one last attempt to stop the machines. It introduces new characters, cutscenes, dialogue scenes, music tracks, and a canonical ending. The story runs alongside the existing sandbox content, so players can still take contracts, complete side quests, follow faction questlines, and manage resources at their own pace.
Version 1.0 also changes how players begin a run. A new Mech Selector lets them start with any unlocked mech, while the tutorial can now be skipped and remains tied to the Monki. Existing questlines have been moved into Side Quests, with major faction content now unlocking more naturally as the Main Quest progresses.
The update also expands the game’s mech progression. More than 260 new parts have been added, bringing the total to over 540.

Monki, Ocelot, and Patriot all receive balance changes, with improved Hull Point values, defensive tweaks, and new build options. Enemy balance has also been adjusted, including changes to Medusa, Snipers, and Thorns damage from several enemy types.
Several quality of life upgrades arrive with the launch build. Quest notifications now appear during play, quest tracking can be toggled on the minimap and side panel, activities and locked options now have clearer tooltips, and mech part purchases include better comparison and installation prompts. Players can also try out pilots before hiring them by paying a small portion of their recruitment cost to reveal one random skill.
The 1.0 update also improves performance in the Management Screen, adds paginated inventories and stores, includes status previews in the Loadout Screen, brings dedicated music to certain activities, adds around 20 achievements, and marks the game as Steam Deck verified.

Players who want to experience the Main Quest will need to start a new save file. Older saves should still load, but they will not include the new story content and may run into issues due to changes in the map and quest structure. Custom Characters will carry over normally, and the current Early Access version will remain available through a dedicated Steam branch.
